SUMMARY:Nature Writing for Kids 8-13 in the Arnold Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:Spend time enjoying nature and exploring different forms of nat
 ure writing. In this four hour workshop\, students will learn about and cr
 eate different kinds of poetry including sense poems\, wabi sabi walking p
 oems\, gatha\, personification poems\, haiku and tanka. During the worksho
 p students will do nature scavenger hunts\, walking meditation\, and play 
 theater games in between writing activities.\n\nStudents will use brushes\
 , calligraphy pens\, and ink to write their haiku poetry on rice paper.\n\
 nDuring the workshop we will read and discuss nature poems by a few well k
 nown poets such as Mary Oliver\, Ogden Nash\, Joyce Kilmer\, Robert Frost\
 , and Christina Rossetti.\n\nStudents will have multiple opportunities to 
 share and discuss their own writing.\n\nStudents should bring water\, lunc
 h\, small notebook\, and pens or pencils. Instructor will supply brushes\,
  calligraphy pens\, ink\, and rice paper.\n\nDrop off and pick up at the m
